Cigar Smoking Tips
Cigar Ends
Of the two ends of a cigar the "head" of the cigar is more commonly the end closest to the cigar band. The "foot" of the cigar is on the opposite end. The band identifies the type or brand of the cigar and may be removed or left on. Before lighting a cigar the smoker cuts the cap from the head of the cigar then ignites the foot. The smoker draws smoke from the head of the cigar with the mouth and lips. Most smokers usually do not inhale cigar smoke into their lungs.
Lighting Cigars
The cigar should be rotated to achieve an even burn when lit while the air should slowly be drawn with gentle puffs. Cigars can be lit using many different methods, however we recommend using butane-filled lighters. Butane is colorless, odorless and burns clean an nearly flavorless. It is not recommended to use fluid-filled lighters like zippos and paper matches since they can influence the flavor of the cigar. Wooden matches are also a good choice. They are clean and thus the smoke is not affected with chemicals.
